Profiler Mulder

Mulder might have had a mission to track down Samantha. But even back in Tooms we could see the obsessively determined Mulder that was lurking under the smart Armani suit. Grotesque just confirmed our suspicions. If you catch Mulder's interest, no little green men are required to make things fun. I guess these could be called my "cop stories" - though quite a few of them have a distinctly paranormal edge.

If you like these, you may like my Pre-XF stories

Cold Comfort
Rated R | 83K | Category XA | February 2000
When 3 priests die, the killer seems to have a story to tell, but is it the same one that people are hearing? X-Files are dangerous, even more dangerous when the partners can't agree. Written soon after Orison aired

A story told alternately from the point of view of Mulder and Scully as they drive home after a tough case.

Cold Cuts
Rated R | 270K | Category XA | December 2002
Set in S6. When Kersh adds Mulder and Scully to the hunt for a serial killer, everyone's life gets a little more complicated. Friends, allies and enemies can make for a dangerous team.

A story of assumptions, choices and difficult judgements.

Death Wish
Rated R | 35K | Category XA | May 2003
Set in S2. Somebody's copying a killer who Mulder arrested years before.

Written in response to a challenge - and it was certainly a challenge for me to fit it into a 35k format!

History Lessons
Rated R | 87K | Category XA | March 96
A serial killer hunt gets Mulder in trouble with his memories of a past case but then gets Scully into worse trouble over her memories.

The partners try to help one another through what turns out to be a rather personal case, but helping isn't always as easy as it looks.

In Service Training
Rated R | 33K | Category SA | January 96
Mulder accidentally triggers a horrific flashback for a colleague during a training course and then has to try and sort it out.

I have a soft spot for this one because it's an early story of mine but it's quite an original setting.

Insight I
Rated R | 44K | Category XA | October 2003
Insight II - Dark Fire
Rated R | 47K | Category XA | November 2003
Insight III - WakeUp Call
Rated R | 60K | Category XA | March 2004
Insight IV - Shutdown
Rated R | 60K | Category XA | July 2004
Insight V - Overload
Rated R | 54K | Category XA | September 2004
Insight - Past Tense
Rated R | 32K | Category XA | June 2004
Suppose Scully had arrived two minutes later in Folie à Deux, what would the consequences been for the two of them. Two years after FàD they need to work together again.

Each Insight is an episode in its own right but the story and Mulder and Scully's relationship will make most sense if you start with Insight I and keep going.

Past Tense is effectively a prequel to the series - it describes just what did happen to Mulder in this version of FàD. I wrote it after Insight III, but it can be read as a standalone. Though I think it'll be more enjoyable if you've read at least Insight 1 first.

The full series is available in a single volume at x-libris: Insight Series

OK, I admit it, I got hooked on this idea. Though I still claim that Insight I was a standalone, there were too many possible stories in this new timeline for me to resist telling them. There still are - but it's time for me to move on!

Insurance Policy
Rated PG | 210K | Category XA | October 96
Mulder wakes up with no recollection of the last six weeks.

Ever wondered why the baddies don't just take Mulder out? Maybe he's got friends.

Lammtarra
or as an ebook/PDF: https://x-libris.xf-redux.com/book/lammtarra/
Rated PG | 500K | Category XA | May 97
A team effort - me, Luvmulder and our Anonymous colleague.Mulder spirals down into darkness when he begins to believe that an old ISU friend of his, who had apparently committed suicide, was really murdered by a dastardly elusive killer.

My first team effort and such an ambitious project. I'm proud of this one and learned a lot writing it. Other people liked it too. It won two EXMC awards in the 97 season.

Letting Go
Rated R | 88K | Category CA | June 96
Mulder goes solo on a case in San Francisco. But when the killer isn't what he was expecting, he needs the SF PD and the FBI's finest to help him out.

My earliest piece of serious case file profiler angst. A milestone for me and it introduced me to one of my best net chums, so how can I not have fond memories!

Management Training
Rated R | 48K | Category SA | October 96
Early S2. Bill Patterson gives Mulder a little job to do while the X-Files are shut down.

I like this, it's simple and grim. And Bill Patterson is just plain mean.

Past Imperfect
Rated R | 360K | Category XA | Sept 99
The FBI wants Mulder to find out what went wrong with Bill Patterson. Bill is keen to talk, but why? Mulder and Scully consider the people who walk into the abyss and the people who they drag down with them.

A journey into the past with Mulder and Scully trying to make sense of the present.

The Pattern
Rated Mature | approx 350k | Category XA | May 2005
Catching Monty Props the first time was hard. The second time it nearly killed him. Third time lucky?

A mix of pre-XF and XF days. A story of Monty Props, Bill Patterson, Diana Fowley, Walter Skinner, Mulder and Scully. A tale of two love affairs, two bosses and a series of murders.
