Secret Meeting
She opened her apartment door, taking great care to not waking William in the process. She was still shaking from her ordeal with the Super Soldier and she was glad to make it safely first to her mother’s to retrieve her son and then to her apartment.
She tiptoed to William’s bedroom and put him in his crib. She kissed his chubby cheeks and that’s when she felt she wasn’t alone in the room. Fear crushed her heart when she turned around but it was sheer happiness that almost made her faint when she saw who was standing here in the darkness.
“Mulder” she whispered, near tears.
He came to her and took her face between his hands. Their mouths merged together in a deep and passionate kiss. They were hungry for each other after a so long separation. Their tongues duelled for control while their tears mingled on their faces. They came up for air and their forehead touched. When their breathings were under control again, she searched his eyes to find the reason of his presence here.
“I can’t stay long but I needed to touch you and to see our son.”
“I miss you so much sometimes it feels like I am dead inside”.
“I feel the same but we did it all for William. No sacrifice is too much for him and for you”.
“Look at him, so peaceful in his sleep”
He went near the crib and leaned over it to drown himself in the sight of their son. He could see that William’s hair has started to darken and his lower lip was alike his. He was the living proof of the love he shared with Scully.
He let the baby sleep and went back to Scully who was observing him from the doorway. She held his hand and led him toward the master bedroom. Once there, they didn’t lose their time with propriety. They unclothed quickly and they rediscovered their bodies with delight.
They made love tenderly, blessedly sheltered from the sad reality by the depth of their commitment to each other.
